Neckpiece #N131 "JOLLY TAR" Now once upon a time there was a pirate copywriter who had the job of bally-hooing her own work--not an easy task for a shy, retiring organ-pumping ham. So she made up sometimes silly, sometimes inane tales about each piece and wrote them down, hoping someone would read them and maybe even buy something. If you have been following all these pages, you may have run across a magic hat that never bothered to tell wizard cabin boys and girls which ship they would sail upon. See N17 for one (which was mostly written by the Captain, but no one is telling). And N132, too! Now the reader with the sharp eye will notice that "Jolly Tar" appears to have landed on that same hat. "Appears" is the key here. For the copywriter/ pirate/ organ-pumper is also a would-be hatter. And, being very tired of magic hat stories she has decided to announce that this one is a fraud, perhaps made by the Hat God in Las Vegas. If you won't buy that, buy the jolly tar, who is much more fun with his three balls and his jauntily decorated wooden beads. And to live up to his name, there is sinnet work done with tarred cord (coated to help prevent rub-off, most of which has already smeared off onto the braider's hands). It's 31" when worn over the head (and when not) and sells for a meager $25. Come on! If you've read this far, buy the neckpiece and make the copywriter's Captain very happy indeed.
