And no, the quote is not "Nevermore." The albatross is a huge majestic sea bird who lives on tiny squid (no krakens here) and spends most of his time riding the updrafts and following ships at sea in search of a handout. Sometimes that backfires and the seamen snag the gigantic bird in search of a meal, but let's pass over that bit. Once a year he meets up with his true love on a plot of land a couple of feet square and they hatch their egg. No wonder he spends most of his time at sea! "Crystal Albatross" is named for the bird, which happens to be our mascot and is also known as the goonie bird. We've been known to call each other "Goonie" and screech loving at each other--although only when we are alone. But "Crystal Goonie" doesn't quite have the dignity required. The large egg shaped crystaline glass bead that drops from the center was the inspiration (do you suppose it will hatch?). Other crystal beads dot the neckpiece but most striking are the geometric wooden beads of various shades of brown. It is 27" around the neck and the drop is 3 1/2 inches and features, as well as the crystal "egg," a fine monkey's fist, as always tied by the fingers of Mac the Wife while screeching at her love.
