| PiRATE PRiMiTiVE SKULLS! Pirate Pectoral Neckpiece #N229 |
| "RAYS OF ATON" The early artists of the ancient civilized world often showed their rulers wearing pectorals--necklaces that resembled collars of metals and gems and beads. Of our personal favorites are the royal neckpieces of the Egyptians (think Nefertiti). On one image, the controversal pharoah Akhenaton's god, the sun ATON (or Aten, if you'd rather), reaches out with rays ending in what seem to be caring hands. Now this pharaoh's "one god" religion went down so poorly with the multi-god priests, and most everyone else, that the majority of Akhenaton and his god's images were totally destroyed. In history, their way, he became Akhenammon. Ammon was their main man. Quite a story. With the rays of Aton (or Aten) in Mac's mind, she fabricated a special piece for the new Pirate Pectoral collection. Ancient Egyptian and Caribbean Pirate? We'll who knows what lurked in those pillaged chests. But, being true to the cause, the pectoral reaches out with skulls--almost entirely skulls, in fact--instead of hands. (Beads of hands are hard to find!) The centerpiece is of burnt jade and is quite impressive. It is all strung on wire, about 18" around, most suited for a smaller neck and to show off a ladies decollete. This remarkable piece is N229 and sells for $49.99 (you get to keep the penny). Ah, the wonders of this New World! With just a click or two, Mac transformed the Captain into the ancient mystic that suits his inner self and N229. |
