Neckpiece #N241

"BAMBOOZLER"

In an attempt to justify the catchy title of this piece, we need to find a catchy story to go along with it.  We could cop out and tell you to make up your own, but that would be cheating.  On the other hand, the stories are written to get you to take a look at our goods.  So, here goes.

First, who or what is a bamboozler?   Well, once upon a time a canny native chieftan of an inviting tropic isle rubbed his palms together when he found that a group of pirates were careening their ship nearby.  Here, he chortled to himself, could be his personal goldmine.  He knew from experience that, although the pirates were cut-throats and loved to pillage and the like, they also loved to party 'til they couldn't see straight.  So he convinced the pirates that he had taught himself to distill fine rum from the heart of the bamboo tree.  Only, said the pirates, who had been at sea too long, he needn't bother with the "fine" part.  All the better, smiled the bamboozler and offered them a "good price" on all they could drink.  In anticipation, he had procured a jug of rum from the nearest Spanish camp, trading one of his less comely daughters and a Pirate Primitive cat tantalizer, and presented the drink to the pirates in a hollowed out bamboo cane, for verisimiltude you see.  The bos'un took the first swig, pronounced it good and the pirates, who had made a fine score in their last outing, paid the small  price asked.  Well, the bamboozler, being indeed an alchemist/botanist, as well as a con artist, had brewed up something from the local plants, but it wasn't rum.  A little clever mix and match and the pirates were soon passed out under a coconut tree and stayed that way for a week.  By the time they came to, sunburned and dry, their ships were gone, as well as their gold.  The natives were never seen again, except in this story.  Enough?  Enough!

This PP piece features a nice big Ojime skull supported by a monkey's fist and a disk of glass.  The bamboo is faux (turned wood) and strung on dark red dyed sinnet-braided cord.  It slips over the neck so that another bamboozler can't cart it off.  This curio of the golden days of the Caribbean pirate can be yours for $26.00.   "Rum" not included.
