And if they couldn't have rum, they'd at least have grog. Therefore, it was a matter of considerable speculation among the Brotherhood why, whenever one particular captain put into Tortuga, he'd always take aboard quite a few cases of the pure, clear and potent "white lightening" of local manufacture. When finally questioned about it, about how he and his crew could stand to drink the pure alcohol, the captain just laughed and said, "We don't drink it, mate. We set fire to a rag stuck in a bottle's neck and hurl it at our enemies. That way we can save a lot of powder and shot." In reality, as we know it, the fighters would indeed fill spheres with incendary devices, light them and, hopefully, get them tossed away in time to not be blown up themselves! "Glass Granade," as we have called this piece, is in the spirit of doing battle with glass. And, as the Captain will attest, this is no plaything. First, the hefty monkey's fist is tied around a hard glass sphere--all the better to bonk with. And there are eight spherical glass beads with stripes of blood red that also can do damage as well as decorate. This is not just a neckpiece/lanyard (insert the fist through the loop), it is also a dangle (from your belt or where-ever) and a mean bit of self defense. It is 37" long including the dangle from the fist. It is made on a sinnet of four strand tarred cord. WE ARE TOTALLY SERIOUS ABOUT THE DAMAGE THAT CAN BE DONE WHEN THIS PIECE IS HANDLED CARELESSLY.
