| The 1860s: VICTORIANA & THE CIVIL WAR Live Music from the Civil War and Music of the Victorian Era Available for your next gathering, school presentation or historically oriented event. Presenting for your musical entertainment: Songs of the Civil War and Victorian Parlour Music. And, once again, Queen Victoria. Herself. Mallory & McCall's love for the 19th Century has brought about a series of entertaining and educational presentations based around the middle of that fascinating time. Our authentic costumes make any event special and Jan's vintage reed organ and our reseach of the music accurately recreates the sound of the period, The CIVIL WAR was musically exciting, touching and educational. From songs like "Hard Tack, Come Again No More" to "Poor Kitty Popcorn (Buried in a Snowdrift Now)" and sad at the loss of her soldier, the songs bring an era of American History alive. Included are songs popular at the time, such as those composed by Stephen Foster, as well as music written by the soldiers on both sides of the front. Suitable for schools and concert presentations, for groups and organizations, President's Day celebrations, theme parties and re-enactments. History has never been so entertaining, and, as shown in the photos, so colorful. Suitable for all ages. For those of you who long to re-create a more "gentle" time, we also perform for VICTORIAN EVENTS: teas, brunches, home concerts, house tours, social gatherings and other such graceful occasions. You will hear the music as it was sung, with Janna's little pump organ and Mallory's period-style vocals, it's just like being "At Home With Friends" a hundred fifty or so years ago. Charming to dine to or enjoy as a concert. Wonderfully romantic. And no pirates allowed! For the Holidays and throughout the year, M & Mc appear as Mr and Mrs Dickens. Explore their page! And for those of you who long for something more modern, try the GAY '90s. Fun, upbeat and nostalgic. And if you like music of the sea, but can't handle the wild, off-the-wall PIRATE presentation, there is a retired SEA CAPTAIN with a mysterious past who, with his wife, present songs of his calling and his background, which is just a tad west of Ireland. They don't rate a page yet, but must share this one. And speaking of Ireland, if you like your Ould Favorites IRISH, we have a full repertoire of those, as well. And in vintage Irish countryside dress. After over twenty-five years, Janna and Mallory are once again presenting QUEEN VICTORIA and her singing equerry. Have you ever wanted to be knighted? Petition the Crown, telling Her Majesty why, and we'll arrange it (knighthood from HRM expires in 1901). Or, make a Dame of a friend. The Queen is available for all kinds of events. Use your imagination. But be advised: Once Janna becomes the Queen, she is the Queen! Do not doubt it. The Queen most certainly has her own page. So CLICK it out! And, in case you didn't notice, we may be reached at MalloryandMcCall@Yahoo.com! The number for the Castle (aka Janus Company Music) is 323-733-7241. The Queen Herself doesn't answer since she has servants to see to those things. |

| A foot-pumped reed organ like this one, now in a museum in Japan, was often found in a proper parlour in the middle of the 19th Century. Janna's vintage suitcase pump organ is not quite that old or charming looking, but makes the same characteristic sound. The Steinway piano from the mid-1860s would be the instrument of choice for the well-to-do. We have our own (1864) which is in the process of restoration. The sound is clean and remarkable, with a bass unlike a modern instrument: exceptionally clear and crisp. |
