We were going to put this 6 minute clip on another Civil War page, but at the moment, there is no room.  So here it is by itself for you to enjoy.  We wish the quality were better, but this is what we found.  One great thing about  this film is that the War Between the States was very alive and real to many folks when this silent was made.  Thus, the props and backgrounds are more than usually authentic.  Buster was a perfectionist and it showed.

The Concept:  Buster, who can't seem to do anything right, gets involved with a huge cannon and a train called "The General."  One of, in our opinion, the greatest films every made, "The General" is Buster at his best.

You may need to have Jan come play piano or organ behind this silent to get the full effect.  We were lucky enough to hear pipe organist Gaylord Carter play background for it in it's proper setting in one of the grand old  theaters.
