| It's not very often that one gets to give a public thank-you to the folks that have, through the years, added something special to his or her life. With And Then We Wrote...and Re-Wrote... we had that opportunity. And like everything else in that book, it started small--a dedication. But to whom? There were so many candidates! For most readers, the Acknowledgements or Credit Pages in books provoke at best a ho-hum, or a quick page turn to the good stuff. That is unless the page is presented in an acceedingly clever way or the material is necessary to supply a bona fide to a work of non-fiction (or well researched fiction, for that matter). The material below will satisfy only the curious, those whose names are listed, and us. And yet an author, or, for that matter, anyone who attempts a project, really wants a way to publically voice his or her thanks. Creative folk often feel that some kind of Acknowledgement is desireable--very few projects are created in a vacumn. So we made the decision to go whole hog--a lousy metaphor for a pair who avoids (and, in Mallory's case, doesn't eat at all ) red meat. Consider this the long crawl that most people walk out on at the end of a movie (we sit there 'til the bitter end and often freeze the frame if something interesting appears, or disappears before we can catch it--difficult to do in a movie theater!). Maybe when we figure out how to add MP3s we'll add an especially tempting song that only plays as each name is highlighted one by one! ; > } Or we'll set it all to music. A Danny Kaye/Sylvia Fine patter song? This is here for us, and some of the people listed. We won't be hurt if you click away as fast as you can find the "back" button or the Home Goonies. This is not a list in order of importance; within the subjects order is quite random. And this list is really only related to the book and CD and is as of publcation, which debuted in March, 2006. We will want to either update it, or add an addendum. Yeah--most of you will want to skip this page! But it is fun and curious to see how very many folks touched our creative lives. Finally (we hope), if you are on the list and we are not in touch, send us an email and let's get caught up (those folks who are "no longer on this mortal coil," whatever that means, give us a rap from the ether! ). And if you are not on the list but should be, contact us and we'll see that you are added! Our ancient memories are fading and I'm sure we've missed some special folks. So, read on or click off. (A mis-stroke just clicked the list off as I type--trying to tell me something?) And a very real Thank You to all of you who have touched our lives. |
| ?Our special thanks to our supporters and charter members of the LGM&MCDR (Let’s Get Mallory & McCall’s CD Recorded) Project. Without you, this would never have happened at all. You will be thanked by name in the first public edition of this book, when the vast membership roles are closed for lack of space on our computer. However, there is still time and byte storage for you to become that special individual: A Charter Member of LGM&MCDR! Simply send a check made out to Mallory Geller for $20, or more, to Mallory & McCall, PO Box 191084, Los Angeles, CA 90019. LGM&MCDR Charter Members receive a copy of this book and a proto copy of the CD before it gets its artwork or reaches public release...unless all of that has already happened. Then you get the book and the finished CD! At least a $30 value! The fact that some of you are willing to put your faith in us with your checkbooks means more than we can express. This book is dedicated to all the performers--and their songs--who somehow got lost in time. The Cast, Crew and Writers of The Janus Company Radio Theatre were so numerous in the fourteen plus years we were on the air that we can’t begin to acknowledge everyone, let alone recall who did what, after all this time. We went off the air in 1989 when a house fire damaged the recording equipment, sound effects, most of the air check tapes and the archives, but here are a few names culled from our memories, along with a sample of some who unknowingly contributed their talents posthumously and in public domain: Jerry Bono, Bruce Buell, Uncle Ruthie Buell, Daryl Busby, Lewis Carroll, Lucia Chappelle, Martin David, David Gerrold, Mel Gilden, Ken Goldman, Mitchell Group, Burt Handelsman, Jane Hassler, John Hochheimer, Mike Hodel, Terry Hodel, Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann, Roy of Hollywood, Bill Hunt, Claire Hutchins, Jean Kaye, Jay Lacey, Jon Lackey, Elizabeth Lewin, Kenn Long, Amos Murphy, Jack Noble. Aleta Braxton O’Brien, Jan Rabson, Bob Ridolphi, Steve Rosenberg, Marcia Secord, Paul Secord, Nancy Senter, Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley, Alice Shockley, Ann Shockley, Bill Shockley, J. Michael Straczynski, Gary Taylor, Tom Thompson, Mark Twain, H.G. Wells, Scott Wilcoxon, Oscar Wilde, and the staff and talent at KPFK. If we left you out, our apologies! Remind us, and you’ll be in the next printing. We want to share the memories; it was a grand adventure.
