This is My Night to Howl - page 2
In 1980, The Janus Company Radio Theatre presented Werewolf! The Musical, a radio farce written by us for our live radio drama series. We were heard weekly on KPFK radio in Los Angeles for fourteen years, presenting a wide variety of programs from science fiction to farce, drama to fantasy, comical musicals to adaptations of classics like Frankenstein, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and numerous other original scripts .

W
erewolf!, was one of a series of of radio musicals, mostly by Jan, and starred guest Bill Hunt in the title role. Mike Hodel [of Hour 25 fame], Jan Rabson and the two of us completed the cast. Although the tape of the broadcast was lost, this song and another, "Bela's Tent," about a star-struck gypsy, managed to live on in our performances and now on our CD and book, And Then We Wrote...and Re-Wrote...

We have posted this printable version with two motives, one blatantly ulterior: We hope you'll be curious and buy our book to discover not only more such songs, but the plots of three of the musical farces (as well as some exciting pirate music and all sorts of other eclectic and fun things to read, sing, gaze at and, we hope, enjoy).

The other motive? We hope other actor/ performers will learn the song and keep it out there for others to enjoy. This leadsheet as presented is, admittedly, a bit confusing at first, but read it through a few times and it should all come together. Writing out a full score seemed excessive and unnessary. Each performer will take a number like this and make it his (or her, which would be fun!) own. This is just a guideline. And if that's not enough, Mallory performs it on the CD, due out soon. So you can take (pirate) what you like from that!

Howl, and the other originals and adaptations in the book, on the CDs and on this site are here to be shared. We only ask that if you perform any of our original material that you give us credit. If you record it, please send us a copy as well. Autographed!

Meanwhile, enjoy the song, and
buy the book!

One purpose of this site is to share and showcase creative endeavors, ours and others'. So we welcome artists to submit their work to be included on these pages. With the examples of what you present here would be your contact information and whatever bio material you wish. (We reserve the right to edit for space and taste.) Perhaps you may link with others who would be interested in comissioning something grand and wonderful from you. Artist Bonnie Callahan created a wry illustration for "Cats on the Rooftops," a saucy song we adapted and included in our book. She's also permitted us display it here for you to enjoy.
