Here are some sites, some of which  we have stumbled onto--some in search of information, others of art and costume ideas.  Some are simply fun.  Several of these sites have asked that if we use their art clips that we link to them.  Sounds fair to us.  If you know of or have, a site that should be here, let us know about it.  Most subjects welcome.   In most cases we are fans, and not affiliated.

AN "INTERESTING" SITE:
We've just begun to explore a site we discovered as a source of Clip Art, some of which is being used in these pages.  They also appear to have e-cards, posters and various other historically oriented pages.  We found them under Ireland, but the scope is wide.  Their slogan is "Follow Your Interests."

Civil War Poetry and Music
While searching for clipart, we discovered songs, mostly lyrics with some music that wouldn't play on my computer.  Also, articles.  (One reprint especially about "How Authentic Should Music Be?" that in some areas we agree, but others strongly disagree.  It all comes down to the venue, in Jan's opinion.)

Victorian Resource
"The Victorian Era Online"

This site offers a few (at least that's what we discovered) pieces of animated clip art (see the lady in her undergarments on the Victoriana page) but loads of links to articles and sources from clothing to house gingerbread.  And what's for sale on Ebay.  Worth checking out. CIVIL WAR CLIP ART
More than advertised by the name, which it indeed has.  Also books for sale and all  sorts of Civil War pictures.  Doesn't seem huge, but some wonderful backgrounds.  Take a look!

This is Incredible!
Free sheet music resource for 1780-1960

Here's how they describe their site:

The Lester S. Levy Collection of Sheet Music is part of Special Collections at the Milton S. Eisenhower Library of The Johns Hopkins University. It contains over 29,000 pieces of music and focuses on popular American music spanning the period 1780 to 1960. All pieces of the collection are indexed on this site and a search will retrieve a catalog description of the pieces. An image of the cover and each page of music will also be retrieved if the music was published before 1923 and is in the public domain.
Jan just spent about a half an hour looking around.  You search by keyword or phrase.  The music comes up fully annotated, with some wonderful covers.  They are scanned tiny and are hard to read when downloaded and printed larger, but it can be done.  Don't expect to sing right from the printout!  All the songs are American--or at least published in America, which has some limits.  But as it will take a bit of time to go through almost 30,000 songs, we're not worried.  Some things interesting to readers of this site can be put into full size leadsheet format and perhaps someday be posted here.  But don't wait. Look for yourself! Let us know of anything good you find.  It's like a treasure of jewels!   What to try on first!
"Up!  she goes!  Up! she  goes!
"Buried in a snowdrift now."
"When the Whole Darned World Goes Dry?"
These covers from the Levy Collection are songs we already know and perform.  We're sure there will be many, many more to find!
